Why It Matters
NCAA & NAIA Soccer Programs Require Qualifying Insurance
Every Australian and New Zealand soccer player heading to a US college on a scholarship must hold health insurance that satisfies their program's requirements before they can be cleared to train or compete. Australian Medicare does not cover you in the USA.
USA College Cover is an authorised representative of the partner insurers we quote and present to clients — we are not an insurer or broker. These plans meet the minimum requirements for athletic associations such as NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA, and in many cases exceed comparable US plans. This includes UNLIMITED overseas medical cover (on and off the field and in your own leisure time, with 24/7 medical support), cover for ALL US medical networks so you can be admitted anywhere, emergency evacuation and repatriation back to your home country, repatriation of remains, and personal liability cover — priced in AUD or NZD from Australian and NZ-regulated companies.

Frequently Asked Questions — Soccer Scholarship Insurance
Do Australian soccer players need insurance for a US college scholarship?
Yes. All NCAA, NAIA, and NJCAA programs — including Division I, II and III soccer — require student-athletes to hold qualifying health insurance before they can train or compete. Australian Medicare does not apply in the USA, so a qualifying plan is required.
What types of soccer injuries are covered?
Our partner plans cover a wide range of sports injuries common in soccer including ACL tears, ankle fractures, concussions, shoulder injuries and more — both during official training and competition as an amateur, unpaid student-athlete. Always confirm specific sport and activity eligibility before purchase.
Is club soccer covered as well as college competition?
Coverage applies to your collegiate (non-paid, amateur) participation. If you participate in additional club or recreational activities outside official college sport, you should confirm coverage details with us before your departure.
How do I prove my insurance to my US college soccer program?
USA College Cover provides a Certificate of Insurance and, where required, an Insurance Compliance Summary PDF that can be submitted to your college's Athletic Compliance Office. We guide you through the documentation process step by step.
